Gemini, Coin Fire, & Behind the Scenes – YMB Podcast E93

Download Podcast | Subscribe

This is episode 93 of You, Me, and BTC - your liberty and Bitcoin podcast!

We're kicking off this week's show with a discussion about Gemini, the Winklevosses twins' new Bitcoin exchange that has just been approved in New York. The registration process they chose was even more rigorous than applying for a BitLicense and we'll discuss how we feel about such strong regulation. Will it unbalance the free market? Will government approval attract more Bitcoin investors?

Then later in the show, you'll get a sneak peak into the way we prepare for each episode. My co-hosts left their mics on while searching for potential discussion topics and we decided to share that recording with you. They'll touch on some crazy drama regarding Coin Fire, the validity of news and other information on the internet, and much more.

Your hosts today are Daniel Brown, Tim Baker, and John Stuart. Enjoy!

Leave a comment and tell us if you think the Winklevoss twins and Gemini will benefit the Bitcoin community!

We'd also like to thank this episode's sponsor, LuckyBit.

  1. Guys,

I will NEVER listen again. How do you not know about Coin Fire? Have you not heard anything? This is embarrassing.

They were PROVEN right. The SEC publicly confirmed they were right! Like they released a press release.

Perhaps you are just ignorant. Go listen to this ENTIRE podcast. It gives you the entire backstory and then go look at how the SEC CONFIRMED publicly what Coin Fire reported about GAW. So…. do you expect them to be wrong about Cryptsy?

You don’t have to sort through thousands of pages. Just listen for an hour. Boom, informed. After the podcast go read the article update and understand the SEC confirmed EVERYTHING that mike and his team reported.

    I really can’t believe this.

    This was truly embarrassing.

    • If it’s any consolation, I too was fairly shocked by their ignorance. This is an image of a text that I sent Tim while I was editing. (I know it’s blurry – I couldn’t take a straight screenshot because we use a secure texting app that blocks screenies.) I was being fairly obnoxious there though – I wasn’t THAT pissed.

But hey, we’re not here to know every detail of every story. We’ve known since the beginning that we’re more focused on being casual/conversational hosts than experts. Plus there’s the fact that this was a unique, pre-show recording, not a normal, fully-packaged episode.

I’m really glad that you’ve been tuning in for however long you have been and I hope that we can keep you around, but if we’re not for you, we’re not for you.

      Best,
      Daniel
