The SEC Sounds Like My High School Principal – YMB Podcast E185

This is episode 185 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.

Principal: "Do NOT bring your cellular devices to school."

Class: "roflul kk good luck."

That's exactly how the SEC sounded to us this week when they declared that ICOs may be subject to their securities laws. It's hilarious enough that the SEC claims authority to write stuff on paper and expect the entire globe to obey. It's even funnier when the agency issues a stern "investigative report" in an effort to regain control and the crypto world just laughs in the regulators' faces.

The principal never came close to successfully eliminating cell phones from his classrooms and lunchrooms. The SEC, likewise, will never come close to stopping ICOs. So in today's show, we'll have a good laugh and share some predictions about what the ICO community will do in the future.

Then after that, we'll dive into Bitcoin Cash. With BIP 148 expected to kick in soon, some people thought we successfully avoided a hard fork. But it turns out that some people (ViaBTC in particular) plan to move forward with a big block hard fork anyway. We'll provide some general details, tons of opinions, and so much more.
