This is episode 189 of You, Me, and BTC – your liberty and Bitcoin podcast.
Censorship is a real thing. If you don't agree with me, I'll delete your comments and ban you. But what happens when "censorship" is totally private? To what extent can/should I silence people on my own property or my own website?
This is an incredibly important concept for Bitcoin too. What happens if a bunch of users, miners, or nodes decide not to allow transactions from certain addresses? What if parts of the network refuse to propagate certain messages? What happens when users are regularly banned from r/Bitcoin?
We've covered similar questions countless times over the years, but the discussion may never really end. Recent events also raise questions about censoring politically extreme websites, message boards, and social media accounts. Is this good? Will it make lives better?
Let's find out. Tune in tonight at 9PM Eastern and check the list below for some of the specific stories we'll cover!
